Local Music Video – Fred Smith and the Dust of Uruzgan

With the butcher’s bill from Afghanistan climbing ever higher I thought it was a good time to share this.

Stalwart of the Canberra original music scene, Fred Smith, was caught on shaky hand held video earlier in the year in Kandahar playing his song “Dust of Uruzgan” with an Afghan backing band.

The three track EP is well worth getting and is available on itunes.

Thumper this link has it all

Saw one of the concerts earlier this year. Had never heard of any of the acts but was a great night and makes a break from the everyday.

yup, real subversive working for the government in war zones singing songs the uniformed troops applaud.

A Canberra Grammar graduate – that school is such a hotbed of hippie socialism. Do the parents not realise . . .

I think you’ll find Fred’s role is a little more complicated than that Thumper.

I’d like to do some of these OS services gigs. Anyone know how to apply?
