Man arrested after crime spree in Conder

Police have arrested a 26-year-old man after he and another man went on a crime spree in Conder on Saturday morning (17 August).

Around 5 am, a resident from a house on Haxton Place, Conder, interrupted two men stealing tools from a parked vehicle.

Around 7:20 am, the men were observed stealing number plates from a vehicle on Heidelberg Street, Conder and a short time later the men were seen attempting to break into a garage on Neri Place, Conder.

The men were confronted at each location and allegedly drove at residents in a stolen blue Nissan Pathfinder as they fled the scene.

No-one was injured during these incidents.

Following discussions with witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage, police executed a search warrant at a residence on Greaves Place, Conder, where they arrested a 26-year-old man and seized suspected stolen property.

The man has been charged with three counts of theft, two counts of dangerous driving, attempt theft, possess drug of dependence, possess a declared substance without authority and drive motor vehicle without consent.

He will face the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday (19 August) where police will oppose bail.
