Meet your MinisterJust in time to coincide with the recent announcement and sudden Renaissance in “nouvelle vogue” community consultation, the ACT Ministers are holding a Community Cabinet session in Gungahlin this coming Monday 4th August 2008 (Gungahlin Community Resource Centre, 47 Ernst Cavanagh Street).

Naturally it is occurring at a time that is deliberately awkward for individuals who work, or pick their children up from school. Plus it only runs for an hour so you better practice getting your question down to 25 words or less requiring simple yes/no answer, as you know how the Chief Minister tends to ramble in his responses on Friday mornings ABC 666 “Chief Minister Talk Back”.

Add to that the Chief Minister’s Support and Protocol unit only had the sense to email a copy today stating “The advertisement has appeared in both the Canberra Times and the Chronicle, however you may wish to also promulgate the advertisement through your respective mailing lists.” Great to see they they are giving lots of notice so people can make the appropriate arrangements to get there with RSVP responses due by Friday…

But would you expect anything less from a Government that puts out the details on what needs to be done in terms of revamping community consultation without consulting with those people in the first place.

All this sudden community consultation. There must be an election coming.

Another sign of a rotten government is when they start to spend out taxes on advertisements to support themselves, like the current health ads.

An aside.

Some years ago, when the Libs were in and they had a program of ‘Meet the Minister’ in place, a certain very small gentleman of Italian (I think) extraction was one of the heavies.

When voted out at the following election, said De gentleman refused point blank to return his ‘Meet the Minister’ A-frame sign. It apparently still lives in his garage.

We’ve elected some Lu-lu’s over the years.

…the consultation you have when you’re not having a consultation.

i’m not the most switched on bloke in the world but even i knew about this ages ago; its been in the papers for weeks, i guess someones just having a dummy spit because they’re not as important as they think they are

btw johnboy theres a typo in the title (in english we spell it minister)

Some might say the same of you.

I would like to go. I have a few things to say.

Talk face to face. Hm? If I RSVP, it had best be face to face with egg proof perspex in between. I know, it’s no democratic 🙁
