Tomorrow, Sunday 11 May, CORC (Canberra Off-Road Cyclists) will be running a cross country mountain bike race at Stromlo Forest Park. The weather looks to be another great day, and they have a few great courses planned. There’s a little fun loop for the kiddies, a 2Km easy loop for the novice riders, and a 6.1Km loop which is more technical (FUN!) for the keen mountain bikers. Registration opens at 08:30 and racing starts from 09:30. So if you’re not stuck making tea and toast for your Mum tomorrow, get out there and have some fun!

More details are available on the CORC XC events page.

I actually only rode Stromlo for the first time this past Saturday – I believe we headed up the main trunk trail and came down the Skyline Traverse (not entirely sure as I’m not very familiar with the trails and was taking instructions from my brother over the phone!) but we did notice the tracks being marked out for the racing on Sunday. It was really impressive – definitely worth a visit if you enjoying riding and love a good view. The weather on Saturday was perfect and I made it down in one piece minus a few falls here and there. It’s nice to hear of a good turnout for these things Kramer – the riding community in Canberra is definitely on the move (no pun intended!)

Apologies for the late notice, as I only just finished marking up the course for the race.

It was a great day, and we had a great turnout – plenty of little ones in the kids races, a hand ful of novices, and almost 200 riders taking on the mountain. A couple cracked on the climb up, one guy put a big hole in his leg (nothing too serious) on the way down, but everyone left smiling.

Nothing like posting at the last minute!?

Just heading over there now for a Mothers’ Day jaunt with my 4yo.
