ACT Policing has released footage of a cat burglar who allegedly stole two cats from the Tangos Cat Boarding Facility on Kirkpatrick Street, Weston, at about 2:40 am on Saturday.
The man appears to have a mullet hairstyle and walks unsteadily.
The burglar has left the owners of the cats, Beau and Luna, and staff from RSPCA ACT deeply distressed.
The boarding house is an RSPCA ACT shelter, and all other animals are safe and accounted for.
RSPCA ACT CEO Michelle Roberston made an urgent plea via social media for the cats to be returned.
“Someone violently smashed, shattered and forced their way into one of Tangos Cat Boarding Facility suites,” Ms Robertson said.
“I am calling on our supporters and friends to please share this post and the photos of Beau and Luna, with the hope that they would be found and that we can reunite them with their family.
“Beau and Luna were both previously adopted from the RSPCA ACT and their owners book them into Tangos when they go away on holiday, knowing that we would shower them with love and care.
“Needless to say, the family is shocked and deeply saddened. Our hearts are breaking with them.”
Ms Robertson said both cats are microchipped and desexed, with up-to-date details.
“We expect that they may need some extra TLC after experiencing this trauma,” Ms Robertson said.
“If the person/s responsible are reading this post, please have some compassion and return Beau and Luna.”
