Health Minister Katy Gallagher is calling for your input into her Draft Primary health Care Strategy.

“The ACT Primary Health Care Strategy aims to be a visionary document that reflects the thinking of the ACT community in relation to their needs and priorities for primary health care,” said the Minister.

“The previous ACT Primary Health Care Strategy 2006-2009 was effective in developing the foundations to ensure primary health care activities in the future are interprofessional, collaborative and coordinated. The new Strategy will build on the successes of the previous, and set the future direction for primary health care.

The Strategy contains seven priority areas for action, including:

— Improving access and reducing inequity
— Improving continuity and coordination of care, especially for chronic disease
— Increasing the focus on health promotion, prevention, early intervention and consumer empowerment
— Improving quality, safety, performance and accountability
— Information management
— Workforce
— Infrastructure

Consultation closes on 22 April 2011, details on how to contribute are online.
