The ABC has the happy news that the Chinese Government has finally guaranteed they will not put the former Canberra student Zhang Long to death if they find him guilty of murdering Zhang Hong Jie (aka Steffi).

Both the Commonwealth and ACT Governments had refused to assist the Chinese government because the death penalty could have been imposed on Zhang Long.

But after confirmation he would be spared execution, Australian authorities have no formally agreed to assist and in recent days some of the necessary details have been passed onto Chinese officials.

Chinese courts would be able to resolve the case a lot quicker than the ACT. Not hamstrung buy chief justice that lives in fairy land.

Indeed Seepi. Let the Chinese take care of him I say. They won’t be anywhere near as leanient as us.

Why so protective of this murderer if they are so hard hearted

I think they generally say “whacko, die junky scum die”.

Well, not in so many words but the idea is clearly there in the statements.

Commendable.

But why does the commonwealth govt have nothing to say about the AFP dobbing the bali 9 in to a death sentence?
