heel swap

The following crossed my desk and seemed worthwhile:

— Emilia seeking as many heels as possible this October for Carmen Steffens’ ‘Heel Swap’
— Once loved shoes to be donated to Canberra based charity Inanna
— Participants will enjoy 30% off any full priced Carmen Steffens shoe in store

Until the 20th of October, Emilia Rossi from Carmen Steffens [Shop CF10, Canberra Centre, 148 Bunda Street, Canberra City] is seeking any heel you’ve ever loved (but no longer wear) to be donated to her boutique in exchange for a Carmen Steffens shoe for 30% off. These once loved heels will be donated to the very deserving women supported by the Canberra based charity ‘Inanna’ who provide support to women who are generally struggling with something in their lives, and are seeking advice and assistance.

Emilia explains ‘We all have heels in our closets we love, but rarely wear. Carmen Steffens’ Heel Swap is all about taking this opportunity to donate your heels to someone who will appreciate them equally as much and get really good use from them as well. For your generous contribution you will receive any full priced Carmen Steffens shoe that is displayed in store for 30% off. Of course we will also accept donations of handbags, flats and sandals so long as they are in a reasonable condition’.

Alison, one of the service co-ordinators for Inanna, says the donated heels will be very well received, ‘Being able to supply some of the women who access Inanna with some good quality shoes, would be an absolute joy and greatly appreciated by them. Many of the women who come to Inanna struggle with financial disadvantage, which means that buying necessities is sometimes difficult, let alone having money left over for luxuries – such as good shoes!’

So if you have any heels you would like to donate please visit Carmen Steffens to receive 30% off any full priced shoe displayed in store. As a courtesy please ensure any donated items are in a reasonable condition.

Some shoe advise for all you bargain hunters:

How to Choose Quality Secondhand Shoes

If you decide to purchase second hand shoes, look for brand names that you know to be of high quality. Before you final decision, check the quality of your shoes’ body, and choose high quality materials, such as thick plastic, durable canvas and, first of all, leather. Check the heel of the shoe. Choose heels made of cork, wood or thick plastic.

Avoid heels to worn or seriously damaged.

Check the attachments and place your hand inside the shoe to verify the quality of the insoles and the side panels. Avoid shoes with holes or wearing grooves.

Best of luck girls!
