Another rainy Saturday night at Canberra Stadium.

Despite the gloomy conditions, Jason Smith returning from injury seems to have been the panacea the Raiders have been longing for. It was a tough game, and with scores locked at 22 all, Smith clinched victory with a stunning field goal in the final minutes of the game to secure a victory over the North Queensland Cowboys. Recent forward recruits Andrew Lomu and Jason Williams were also outstanding. They will only get better toward the end of the season. Ian Hindmarsh was also a noteworthy performer in the forwards.

After breaking their five game losing streak, the Raiders still remain just outside the top 8 due to a negative points differential. A match summary is available at the Canberra Times website. A more parochial summary is also available at the Raiders site.
