A 20-year-old Fadden man and a 24-year-old Gordon man will face court this morning after being arrested by ACT Policing yesterday for separate driving offences.

The 20-year-old man was stopped by police in Calwell at about 5:55 pm in an unregistered VW Golf. The Golf was bearing number plates that had been issued to a Ford Territory also owned by the driver.

Further police checks revealed that the driver had been issued an Immediate Suspension Notice for drink driving on 27 September. The driver later admitted he had been disqualified from driving at court yesterday morning.

The man will face charges of driving while disqualified, using an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, and using false number plates calculated to deceive.

The 24-year-old man was detected speeding in an Isuzu truck. He was clocked doing 120 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on William Hovell Drive at Aranda at about 8:00 pm yesterday.

When police stopped the truck, police checks found the driver’s licence had been suspended. He was also the subject of an outstanding warrant and was arrested.

When the driver was subjected to breath analysis, he returned a reading of 0.118.

As a suspended driver, he was subject to a zero blood-alcohol limit.

The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning charged with driving while suspended, speeding and drink driving.
