The NRMA is reminding Canberra’s cossetted drivers of the dangers of the big wide world out there:

A recent study funded by the NRMA-ACT Road Safety Trust reinforced previous findings that ACT drivers and riders are almost as likely to be involved in fatal crashes in NSW as in the ACT.

They are also involved in a substantial number of injury crashes in NSW.

The Trust encourages ACT drivers and riders to stay alert, slow down and stay in control on the roads over the holiday period to arrive safely at their destinations and to enjoy their Christmas or holiday break.

As always take regular breaks to avoid fatigue on longer journeys, avoid distractions like mobile phones, overtake only where it is legal to do so, don’t combine alcohol or drugs with driving and travel at safe distances from other road users.
