One of the most highly anticipated albums in the nation’s capital this year has been Shoeb Ahmad’s ‘quiver’. Having been given a taste of Shoeb’s musical turn from avant-garde hell-raising to lush, symphonic pop numbers, through early releases like ‘mask-ed’ and ‘romance’, the new album has finally been released! There will also be an official Canberran launch at Ainslie Arts Centre this Saturday from 7:30 pm, also featuring the stunning Happy Axe. Make sure you are there for an ethereal show that cannot be missed!
There is plenty on this weekend, including a big night of black metal at The Basement on Friday night, featuring Golgothan Remains and Abyssal Sun, while over at Smith’s Alternative the highly rhythmic Rufino & The Coconuts launch their new single ‘The Cray’ from 9:30 pm.
On Saturday, a huge show is lined up as garage dance band Raave Tapes from Newcastle take the stage with Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers, Dalmacia and Cry Club at MOLO Live from 7:00 pm. Legendary singer/songwriter Fred Smith will be performing at the Civic Pub with Canadian Jon Brooks, while at The Street Theatre electro-pop local Boroky will be the debut LP ‘Death’s Insta’ with GhostNoises and Lauren Towler Lovell from 8:00 pm.
