Maverick Canberra artist Tommy Balogh is holding an Art Expo and Sale at the Citywest Carpark entitled ‘ LIGHT FUSION.’ Balogh is best known for his unique light reactive artwork featured in a 2016 ABC interview about his landmark exhibition VOYAGE, an international residency at the hallowed Studio Kybra in Germany by VIVID founders and most recently his showcase of ‘Enigma’ at The Other Art Fair in Sydney.
“LIGHT FUSION is a retrospective of my work over the last few years. I want to celebrate the birth of my daughter and my new life as a father through this event. LIGHT FUSION is a huge opportunity for collectors and art appreciators to see the breadth of the collections. The event showcases my work and its symbiosis with light,” said Balogh.
The event will include live music and light transformation demonstrations of his renowned works, including:
- 12m VOYAGE: Fingerprints of Consciousness, centrepiece for VOYAGE exhibition
- Whirlpool – an experimental ground artwork that opens up a visual vortex into another dimension
- 3m Tao – featured during VOYAGE
- 5m Enigma piece, The Other Art Fair Sydney 2018
“I’ll be hosting late night VIP tours of my studio and the arcade space, where people can see the VOYAGE piece explode into life under lights as it did in the VOYAGE exhibition. It will be a wonderful opportunity to share these magical experiences with Canberra.”
Balogh’s art has been recognised by architects and property developers for its ability to inject unique personality and a sense of wonder into living and commercial spaces. Commercial applications of his art include the 2-storey light-activated “Odyssey” piece commissioned by developer Exempla Group, in collaboration with Architect Turco & Associates for Forbes+Turner multi unit residential development. Balogh has also been featured in Allhomes for his exciting collaboration with Natura Homes, bringing together a sustainable concept home that houses a collection of his works specially created for and built into the space.
