ACT Policing is investigating the theft of 120 metres of copper cable from a building site in Lyneham on Monday night (20 December).
Police believe the offenders scaled a crane on the site sometime between 9pm Monday and 6am Tuesday (21 December). The offenders cut 4 x 30 metre lengths of cable from about 40 metres above the ground, the value exceeding $15,000. It is suspected that the offenders parked their vehicle down a back lane attached to the site.
Police believe a lot of noise would have been made during the removal of the copper and would require multiple people to lift it.
Anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area around the time of the offence or who may be able to assist police with the investigation are asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
