Canberra Review bring the news that the Australian Ballet’s “White” show is coming to town from 27-MAY-05 to 01-JUN-05.

It’s worth checking the story for the picture, which is a well nice bit of phwoah!

The White program celebrates three centuries of “white ballet” in three beautiful works. From the 19th Century, Act II of La Bayadère by the great Marius Petipa; from the 20th, the French confection Suite en blanc with choreography from Serge Lifar and from the 21st Century, a new work, Relic, by Resident Choreographer the incredibly talented Adrian Burnett.

I’m afraid I have to agree with Lurkergal on this…… I don’t like ballet myself, but there are a lot of people who do …. for example – my dearly departed mother loved the ballet, and would go and watch it whenever she could afford it (she was an aged pensioner and had to live on a tight budget).

I still think setting fire to $100 bills is a crime, not matter the artistic intent.

By the way, I don’t like ballet, and wouldn’t go to see it, but I know that a lot of people do. Likewise, I also hate spectator sports – but you probably already guessed that…..

I wouldn’t “expect” you to, but if you did, I wouldn’t care. If there was demand, then go for it! If some people in the community would enjoy going to see it, and be prepared to pay money to do so, then why not!

Actually, you should work on it! Put a proposal in quick before someone steals your idea!

so if i wrote a play about shovelling a pile of $100 bills together and then artistically setting fire to it while writhing around on stage in a bodysuit having some sort of primal scream experience, you would expect me to front up to the taxpayer for a grant to put it on ?

That’s only your opinion Bonfire. A lot of people actually enjoy watching the ballet, and pay money to do so. Just because you don’t like something, doesn’t mean it’s crap. Otherwise I would be bitching about the govt spending money on bullshit like sport.

yet another gaping suck hole of public money. why dont they just shovel piles of 100 dollar bills together and set fire to them.

more people would be entertained by that than go to the ballet.
