while the few times i had been there were pleasant a few of my friends have received food poisoning while eating there. that was a few years ago now though…

Bodhi, I don’t eat there every day. A big difference between Australian and American diets is that some Americans consider that eating fast food breakfast, lunch and dinner is acceptable, all week.

Eating one big meal occasionally won’t make you obese.

So the meals are huge. One of the reasons so many Americans are obese is because they eat HUGE meals of little nutritional value….is that the same fate Australia is heading for?

Im not opposed to big meals, but personally Id prefer an averaged sized, good quality and nutritional meal.

Pie and chips? Ill leave that for you guys.

I worked in Qbn for a while and ate at the Central every now and then. We were never game enough to order the mixed grill. All the meals are enormous. Bacon-sausages-eggs came with six whole rashers, four snags, two eggs, a large tomato, all on toast with chips around the outside. No meal is too good for chips there. I love the fact that double pie and chips is on the light eaters menu.

A British friend of mine once heard a Canadian couple on a boat cruise on the Nile talking about the mix grill at the Central….so it has world fame.

I love taking Asian guests there and encourage them to order the mix grill – you should see their face when it arrives!

When I was a kid growing up in Cooma, the original owners of the Central Cafe (as I believe it has changed hands but the meals have stayed the same) used to own and operate the Blue Bird Cafe. When they left, it was worth the drive to Queanbyan just for Sunday breakfast.

Aahh… The farm on a plate, thats what we call it.
