Mr Shabu Shabu nestles beneath Unilodge just off Childers Street in Civic West.
Barcham and I were attracted by the pleasant looking tables under the big Unilodge awning and the authentic sounding yet very affordable menu.
At 12.15 we were the only ones in, but it began to really fill up as we were leaving.
Impressively a complimentary pot of jasmine tea turned up at our table almost as soon as we had sat down.
I had the teriyaki steak set and Barcham went for the tonkatsu ramen.
The food arrived fast and was excellent. They really appeared to know what they were doing.
The green noodly seaweedy thing was particularly nice with some fresh chilli chopped fine in it. My steak had been seared under a very great heat before chopped fine.
Sit down lunch for two came out at a smidge below $30 and I’d happily go there again.
