The interesting bit of any arts festival is generally the “fringe”. In Canberra the Fringe now appears to be a wholly independent entity going by the name of “Fringe 09” and even I can barely remember what it’s a fringe of.
In any event Fringe Director Jorian Gardner has announced that the irrepressible Alice Cottee has signed on as Creative Producer (apparently that means 2IC).
- ‘“I am very pleased that Alice Cottee has decided to take up the position of Creative Producer,” said Mr Gardner. “She is a highly capable arts practitioner and one of Canberra’s finest singer / songwriters and musicians. I am looking to Alice to essentially help take control of this years Fringe which will be held February 6-14 in Civic Square and at other venues across Canberra. I have admired her work for a very long time and am excited that her input, creativity and ideas will be part of this year’s festival.
“Her experience, knowledge of Canberra and its music scene and her high level of capability in organising gigs within the nation capital and beyond will be invaluable to Fringe ’09’
With Chanel Cole as publicist Jorian’s building a formidable (albeit slightly terrifying) team.
Fringe 09 opens on 6 February.
