National Sorry Day Bridge Walk

Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs, Shane Rattenbury, will mark the upcoming anniversary of National Sorry Day by joining a bridge walk today.

National Sorry Day isn’t until Sunday, but to mark the day there’s a bridge walk today.

The National Sorry Day Bridge Walk commemorates the first National Sorry Day, held on 26 May 1998; exactly one year after the Bringing Them Home report into the separation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families was tabled in the Australian Parliament.

Today’s bridge walk, organised by the National Sorry Day Committee, starts at 11am from Regatta Point, proceeded over Commonwealth Avenue Bridge to Old Parliament House and then returned to Regatta Point.
