MartyO heads to Gibraltar Falls

MartyO sent us some more of his fantastic work for you all to enjoy.

Gibraltar Falls is upstream from Woods Reserve – I tried with my daughter to reach the bottom of the falls earlier this year but was stopped by screaming (daugher) and a snake sunning itself on a rock – we did not make it to the bottom of the falls!

This time we started from the top car park and found very steep path winding down to the bottom – these are the results of some long exposures and an ND400 filter slowing the exposure down 400 times. Allowing for 30 second long exposures in daylight.

The second two are really nice, but the first one is way underexposed. Easy to do because the water is much brighter, but also easily corrected.

Yes, he used a ND filter.

OP mentions in his text that he used an ND400 filter. These are v good. I tend to take a variable ND filter with me. MartyO may have some comment on IQ degradation as a result of these variable ND filters, but I generally find them sound. BTW, you should PM MartyO to get his flickr handle and follow him. His work is consistently excellent.

The flowing water looks like it transforms into a cloud floating on the still water. There has to be some sort of supernatural creature living in there!
