Joy Burch has announced a consultation on a review of a policy in an area that doesn’t much matter anyway:
Community consultation will begin today on the ACT Government’s review of its education policy for gifted and talented students, ACT Minister for Education and Training Joy Burch said.
The current Gifted and Talented policy was developed in 2008. As part of the ACT’s commitment to the National Education Reform Agenda, a decision was taken to review the policy to better support students identified as gifted and talented.
A six week community consultation will be undertaken from now until 25 November 2013. A draft policy created by a working group comprised of parents and teachers will be made available during the consultation.
The gifted and talented are largely beyond the help of the education bureaucracy.
Frankly I’d rather see the effort going to making sure the thickies can read.
