More Burger van stuff - Brodburgers

Stopped in to try the new food van on Bowen Drive, south bound (in the small carpark where the swans and ducks get a free feed). I’d rate the burger – super lean beef, salsa, leafy greens, swiss cheese – as a 10/10 for quality, and at $9 6.5/10 for value.

Although the place doesn’t seen to have a name, everything on the menu; Brodburgers, Brodchicken, Brodfish, Brodsalad, Brodtapwater………… is one sort of ‘brod’ or another, although the $14 monster burger wasn’t called a ‘Big Brod’, which seemed a shame.

What is a “little fake sailboat” ?

They float, they are powered by a sail. Where is the fake aspect here?

As for the burgers..mmm yum!

Finally got to try out a Brodburger for lunch today.

Yummo!!!

Sign says open at 11 but apparently that means 12 and the sign is up but apparently its not… and its getting “fixed”
Would have like to try the burgers but the attitude ended that…
Go back to selling hotdogs outside nightclubs mate.

I saw that place the other weekend, when meeting a friend for a walk there. It’s the carpark where people sail their little fake sailboats. When I was there, an elderly chap in ornate bikie clothing was patronising the caravan and scaring other customers off so I didn’t read the menu carefully, but reckon the owner needs to put out a sandwich board or something to attract cars off Bowen Drive.

Have to say, as a vegetarian, vegie burgers are hard to find, let alone finding a good one.

Went to Brodburger last weekend and was pleasantly surprised. None of those nasty frozen vegie patties. It was all fresh, flame grilled vegies topped with yummy haloumi.

I will go so far as to say this could possibly be the best vegie burger I’ve ever had!!

Ooh – are these old style burgers from a van next to the service centre?

We usually drive into Gundagai proper and go to the Niagara Cafe, for a dose of 1950 (Fonzie style wooden booth seats etc), but the food is not that amazing.

On a slight tangent, burger lovers might appreciate the old-style Bullocky Bill burgers that genuinely require two hands to eat, next to the ugly service centre at Gundagai. True leviathans, and beats the pants off anything available in the McCentre in flavour. Think they sell for $7.50. We always stop there at mealtime on the way south.

I might stroll over and give Brod a try. Sounds a tad on the expensive side, but if it rates a ten, it just might be worth it.

Yep that’s where it is.

I am told that Brod is the cook and that he uses only the freshest and best ingredients. Homemade sauces etc.

I hope it lasts considering the prices but hey, you get what you pay for.

Where’s Bowen drive? ( too lazy to use Google Maps or Earth)
