Canberra local NinaRibena (aka Lisa Barrett) has shown she really does have style, with her humble Higgins abode featuring in this month’s Home Beautiful magazine.
Her home is a display of colour, with a palette including bold reds and muted greens bordered by clean white. Her eclectic style also includes plenty of pattern and texture, with her passion for interesting fabrics and paper exhibited throughout her home. The house is also very functional, with plenty of play space for the kids and a new modern kitchen.
The designer, blogger and mother of two is very active on the world wide web, keeping everyone up to date with all things stylish in the nation’s capital on Canberra’s Got Style, and showcasing her own homemade fashion, jewellery and home wares on Ninaribenamakes.com. Her brand, Tango and James, is available online as well as at local handmade markets and she is also an occasional reader of RiotACT.
Man of the house, Chris, a regular RiotACT lurker, still can’t see what the fuss is all about “It’s just the home we live in”, and while all is neat and tidy in the photos, Lisa is quick to add “it’s actually never this clean, so it is strange to see it like this! But who wants to see it strewn with toys anyway? It’s pretty amazing to have your home in a magazine, and as an interior designer, a bit of a dream come true”.
