Years ago in Civic, a grotty little building was home to Jobline, the odd job referral service that kept a lot of no-hopers like me in touch with the wide world of good honest work. It got cancelled by Kate Carnell in the early nineties, but I’m hoping there are people around who used to be on the staff there, who wouldn’t mind getting in touch with me. I’m applying for a grant to run a pilot program for a similar sort of business down here in Tassie, and I’d like to talk to people who know more about how it used to work, so I can make sure there isn’t a good reason to run screaming in the opposite direction.
