Trevor Thurling gets a six month driving ban and a $1,200 fine

He was DUI and crashed his car, what where the Raiders management expecting, a ticker-tape parade and a street named after him.

I was shocked he is going to appeal the sentence. I thought it must have been really heavy, but 6 months license ban isn’t that drastic.

“making it hard to attend training” is the point you idiot Furner! We’ve all heard of stories where real estate agents, company reps etc have had to employ drivers in order to keep their jobs after losing their licence – maybe Trevor could stump up some of his wage for one too…

Or maybe he will have to move closer to Bruce….or maybe he can catch the bus, or get a lift. Geez the world doesn’t stop if you can’t drive a car. FFS Raiders – show a bit of leadership on this.

And now the Raiders are whining about how tough the penalty is.

Raiders chief executive Don Furner says the penalty will make it hard for Thurling to attend training from his home in Queanbeyan.

Maybe he should have thought of that before drink driving?

He’s never got into trouble, a lot of other people in the community have gone DUI before,” he said.

Would have meant nothing if he’d killed someone. Sorry but I’m really cranky today, there was a request for prayers on another forum today for the badly injured sole survivor in a car hit by a drink driver. I hope his efforts to educate his colleagues are genuine and not just the laughing back-slapping bad-luck-mate and try-not-to-get-caught-next-time display of machismo that I saw when a workmate of mine had his name in the paper for his second offence!

I’ve met Trev and he seems like a very serious and sensible person, and professional: the Anti-Carney. So it was a big surprise to hear about this accident. I hope he’s learned his lesson.

What a stupid defence, chivalry! Chivas Regal more like.

I’m glad he actually got punished rather than slapped on the wrist like some of his Raider predecessors.

Chivalry is fine but a taxi ride would’ve saved him a lot.
