Local Canberra designer Polly Stokes will soon be launching her exclusive fashion label Polbymade. Polly’s label brings together over ten years experience in design with distinctive fabrics to create one-of-a-kind garments for wedding, formal and everyday wear.
Polly’s signature is the innovative use of traditional Japanese fabrics in contemporary designs. After graduating with a Bachelor of Fashion Design from CIT in 2005, Polly lived in Japan for 18 months, immersing herself in the culture and expanding her knowledge of traditional and modern Japanese fashion.
Her extensive work with vintage Japanese textiles has led her to the exclusive use of high quality natural fabrics including silk, cotton and wool.
“After a number of years in the Canberra fashion industry, I am thrilled to be formally launching my new label and website,” says Polly, Polbymade’s creator and designer. “I love sharing my passion for fabrics and design, especially Japanese materials and aesthetics, and with such a diverse design scene, Canberra is a unique and exciting place to work”.
