Party Puts Sex back into Politics

Jane Hutcheon’s interview with Geena Leigh on ABC puts forward the sad, exploitative, drug-dependent side of the sex industry. In contrast with the Eros Foundation’s accounts, seated in their vested commercial interests, Leigh has a pretty steady account.

I’ve seen this list before in various forms, usually by parties who prop up their single issue perception with unachievable promises. in this sense, promising stuff you can’t deliver is Abbottesque!

Yes, good point on the futility of legislating for same sex marriage at the local level. Even a bush lawyer knew that had Buckley’s of surviving a challenge. But hey, it’s only hundreds of thousands in public moneys and there’s nothing like the feeling of progressive preening. Verdant ALP-esque, perhaps?

•Taxation and regulation of the supply of marijuana
•Drug law reform – ending the war on drugs by treating drug users like people and not wasting

money by treating them like criminals

•Free public transport
•Increased support to Canberra small businesses including red-tape reduction
•Gender & marriage equality
•Greater budget accountability including lower ACT budget deficits
•Restrictions of government and commercial data retention
•Legal voluntary euthanasia with the support and guidance of the medical community
•Non-traditional farming practice for the ACT
•A secular education system with a National Sex Education Curriculum
•Increased support for the Arts
•National Censorship Laws
•National Pregnancy Termination Laws
•Ending tax exemptions for religion
•A true voice for liberty in the ACT’s Legislative Assembly

G’day Steven. Firstly, sorry for confusing you with Jorian as Lead Candidate. I take it that you are going to be the spokesperson for the SP. Good for you. I always acknowledge the courage of any candidate prepared to stand up and be counted, whatever the result.

You have cleared up one of my points in that rioters will now see that the SP has a considered candidate and not someone with the baggage JG has. Let’s hope the popular media give you airtime at election time. I doubt it but wish you well.

The list of policies is impressive but you need to say how you can pull them off form one seat in the Chamber. Rattenbury does it, like Michael Moore before him because they had the whip hand in making government, taking 40 pieces of silver at the time. I didn’t know a ministry was worth that much.

Just remember that pollies stand or fall on the deliveries. I stood for and won four elections. That is because I have great staff and none of them had a whisper of scandal or impropriety. Just sayin’.

And what part of 1.3 quotas don’t you understand. I didn’t need to scrape in with 12 1/2 per cent quota in a large electorate like the Greens did and still had the balance of power. Democracy at its worst.

So which election did you have the courage to contest or are you just another armchair critic?

It’s nothing to do with quotas John. I think you understand clearly the point I was making and to suggest a chosen Labor candidate needs “courage” to stand in the ACT is absolute fantasy.

Actually John, Jorian Gardner was sacked by *three* media outlets – City News, WIN and 2CC. You could possibly count The Canberra Times as number four as he wrote a few articles for them after he was sacked by 2CC before his articles suddenly disappeared.

Does “Free public transport” mean no direct user charges for buses (with the trams ditched), or buses and trams, with no direct user charges for either?

If it’s the latter, the “lower deficits” promise would have to mean even higher rates (rising faster than currently projected under the Labor/Green government) and taxes, or big savings elsewhere.

The irony of a former Labor party politician complaining about the Liberals wanting to control his life and force their morals on to others, Priceless.

Neither of our two major parties are interested in real Liberty, they just go about it in different ways.
