Canberra’s UPRISING paintball teams competed over the weekend just passed (May 14,15) at Round 2 of the Australian Super 7s Tournament series in Sydney at Action Paintball Games, in Divisions 2 and 3. The series features teams from as far afield as Queensland, Victoria and even New Zealand and is the biggest tournament series in Australia. (http://www.super7spaintball.com/).
Uprising A, competing in the 2nd Division (“Semi Pro)”, finished the round matches in 1st place on count back from team NBK. The Final used a “race to 3” format and when time expired the score was locked at 2-2. This required a one vs one over 2 minutes to settle the match result with the first player to eliminate the other winning the tournament title. The first 1 on 1 resulted in a mutual elimination requiring a 2nd playoff, which Uprising won. The win, coupled with a 4th placing at Round 1 sees the team lying third on the series ladder, with 2 rounds to play in the series.
Uprising B, competing in Division 3 (“Amateur”) finished their round matches clear at the top of the table and played off against fellow Canberra team Notorious for the tournament title. In a “race to 2” format for this division, Uprising B emerged clear winners 2-0 breaking through for their first tournament win. The win moved them to top of the Division 3 table.
Uprising gratefully acknowledges the support of current sponsors Predator Paintball (Michelago), SNP Security Canberra and ANSGear.com and would love to hear from other potential sponsors to discuss possibilities (uprising_pball@optusnet.com.au).
Other Canberra teams participating included Apocalypse (Pro Division, 6th), Thundercats (Semi Pro, 4th), ACT Notorious (Amateur, 2nd) and Divas (an all female team at their first tournament, Amateur Division, 6th).
