A man who climbed a tree to evade talking to police was arrested and charged for calling the ACT Ambulance Service unnecessarily.
The 40-year-old Narrabundah man is alleged to have contacted ACT Ambulance Service around 8.10am, requesting an ambulance to a location in Griffith. Police attended the location as well due to a report of a disturbance.
Investigations led police to the man’s Narrabundah home around 12.50pm. When police attended, he became argumentative and shortly after climbed a nearby tree.
Due to concerns for the man as the tree branch was overhanging the road, the road was closed off for a short time while police negotiated with him to come down.
About 2.15pm the man came down from the tree where he was arrested and taken to the ACT Regional Watch House where he was charged with Give false alarm of fire, emergency or other. He was later released and will attend the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.
