Open the front door at 2 Kinkora Place in Crestwood and the bright and cheery tones of pink will immediately jump out at you from the walls, the couch, the tiles in the bathroom and many other features, but delving into the history of the home reveals more heartfelt undertones.
The current owner and her daughter bought it some years ago as a place they could call home together. However, the daughter was quite unwell during the renovations and passed away just under a year ago from breast cancer.
Pink is recognised internationally as the colour for breast cancer awareness, and coupled with the owner’s love of the colour, it goes some way to explaining the bold choice.

Home.by holly real estate agent Bianca Way says that on seeing the house for the first time, the highlight was how the current owner had poured her heart and soul into it.
“I think that’s exactly what your home should be. It should be a reflection of all the things that make you most happy, and that’s what this is.”
The home has been on the market for a week, but Bianca says they’ve had about 20 groups through on inspection tours, leaving some blown away by the pink and others wondering how they might be able to tone it down.
“I’d say that at least half are just coming to have a look, but the ones that are really keen on it are working out how they might be able to best use the space. It’s a lot of house!”
The home has faced many adaptations since it was built over 50 years ago and previously consisted of three separate residences, with a downstairs studio apartment, another one-bedroom unit and a three-bedroom unit upstairs. The combined total offers five bedrooms, two bathrooms, three toilets, a massive shed and an equally massive garage.
“The floor plan sort of meanders in all sorts of directions, so a lot of people are thinking about how they can practically live in the space,” Bianca says.
Upstairs, you’ll find elegantly styled bedrooms and a living area, all with incredible views across the Majura region and sprawling to Black Mountain Tower.
As the peacock LED-lit window at the front of the home suggests, the down-stair quarters are designed to stand out. A flamboyant mix of pink, warm yellows and romantic jewel tones perfectly complement the styling and aesthetic of the vibrant renovation.
Quite a few of the pink objects are fixtures, including the bench seat in the living room, and the tiling in the laundry and bathroom, but Bianca says that a coat of more neutral paint on the walls is an easy way to make it more palatable to a wider audience.
“This is a home that uplifts because it is true what they say: it’s impossible to be blue when you’re surrounded by pink!”
Bianca says this will be a house she’ll remember well into her career.
“One of my favourite things about real estate is being able to experience unique spaces crafted by the homeowners. The Queanbeyan region never disappoints with a wonderful, eclectic, and diverse community of creatives and risk-takers.”
Bianca is also using this sale as an opportunity to run a fundraising event in conjunction with the National Breast Cancer Foundation, to help achieve ‘zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030’. This will finish the day after the auction and is accepting donations online.
“I thought this is a good way to celebrate this space and support the owner and the process she went through, not to mention a lot of other women,” she says.
This home will be auctioned on-site at 9 am on Saturday, 4 December.
