WATCH: Kids try their hand at Indigenous spear throwing in Tidbinbilla workshop

The theory is simple – throw the sharp stick as hard as you can at the kangaroo. Turns out it’s not that easy, and our kangaroo was made of very non-bouncy Corflute.

A group of kids and their parents gathered at Flints in the heart of the Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve on Tuesday, 18 April, for a workshop on Indigenous spear throwing.

Hosted by Kie Barrat, program coordinator for ACT National Resource Management and former field officer for Tidbinbilla, the event forms part of this year’s Canberra and Region Heritage Festival.
