What is wrong with the stupid kid tagging "Nokia"

Perhaps this artisic fellow is simply a patriotic Finn…

The name Nokia is said to derive from the Finnish word, nokinäätä, a marten, an animal that inhabited the banks of Nokianvirta. The old Finnish word nois or nokia meant a black-furred sable. After the sable had become extinct in Finland the word was used to refer to other dark-furred animals such as the pine marten.

if you got some time on your hands google some of the following writers and see what ya think puzle (melb), broke/exit (canb/bris/syd), caib (syd), dmote (syd), phats (canb) smart (canb). they are a few guys who were (maybe still are) doing some pretty cool stuff. they are just a few names that sprung to mind, theres hundreds more really impressive writers in oz and many different styles. theres a few decent graff websites for aussie stuff, not sure if it’s still around but there was a pretty good site based in canberra that is worth a look, but i dont remember the addy.

Nokia is actually quite artistic.

See the squiggle on the ‘k’… it’s expressing his/hers winding road in life and the difficulties encountered on their journey. Then everything returns to normal with the ‘i’ and the ‘a’ almost makes it, but that last squiggle shows how life is throwing another another curve ball at him/her.

Or possibly the artist is simple against ‘Kia’ automobiles… hence ‘No Kia’. This could be attributed to a deep love of dogs and how ALL Koreans eat dogs on a regular basis- this is not a racist assumption, just a ‘racist kid from the streets of ACT Public Housing’ assumption.

But most likely the squiggles come from being afraid to hold a can of spray paint since the person that wrote it (like all ‘taggarrrzzzzz’) are wigga g’s compensating for not having enough potatoes in their diet.

Of course, the fact remains: tagging is dumb.

‘Nokia’??? What next, someone’s going to start tagging ‘McDonalds’ or ‘Coke’ everywhere, or even worse ‘RiotACT’?

Impressive effort the culprit has gone to in order to get the tag where it is though, you have to give them that. Not so impressive the tag itself unfortunately.

If only someone could harness that energy and could guide this amatuer, perhaps give them some art lessons, teach them some art appreciation. I mean if you’re going to go out of your way to do something like that at least make it clever/memorable and more than one-dimensional. I mean with characters like Banksy in the graffitti/arts community surely these guys could be inspired to do something that maybe encourages some thought.

The tagger’s name may actually be ‘Nokia‘ … *hehe* … Nokia Brown or something like that. Apparently it means ‘Sable’ or ‘Marten’.

Maybe someone should cross out this tag and scrawl “motorola” or some other brand underneath. See which tagger can get to the bottom of the ledge without slipping and becoming a red stain on the concrete below.

Having spent most of today trying to get some decent customer service out of Nokia’s call centre, I suspect maybe this is a cry for help?

May be it was written in “pidgin” if so the culprit is caught red handed!

There’s plenty of other examples around, this morning I saw this one and had the camera to hand. They all read the same to me but maybe the BigN has done a number on me and I’m seeing it everywhere.

Anyway with penmanship like this nothing can ever be certain.

I for one don’t read this as ‘Nokia’. ‘Noisia’, maybe. That thing after the O doesn’t look like a K to me.

seriously, the ingenuity of this particular tagger or taggers, I have seen the same tag on a freshly painted wall, minutes after the painter has left. If they could turn their tags into a mural for the city in the same vein as the mad thing on adelaide ave, we might have a better looking streetscape.
