UPDATED: AFP employee facing court after being charged with various offences

UPDATE, 3 pm: the employee, Michael Robert McLean, is next scheduled to appear before the ACT Magistrate’s Court on 2 December over the allegations.

A police force employee is facing court in Canberra after being charged with several offences.

An AFP spokesperson said on Monday (23 September) that the employee has been charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice, make a false accusation of an offence, obtain property by deception, and traffic-related offences.

“The employee, charged by AFP Professional Standards, has been suspended from duty,” the spokesperson said.

They will appear before the ACT Magistrates Court today (23 September).
