AFP member charged with attempted murder following alleged Gungahlin incident

An additional charge of attempted murder has been laid against an AFP employee, who has already been accused of two other offences.

The male member, who cannot be named to protect the identity of his alleged victim, was originally charged with intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm and aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm on Saturday (6 July).

An ACT Policing statement said this occurred following an “incident” in Gungahlin on Friday night (5 July).

“The AFP is committed to transparency. No further comment will be made,” it stated.

The man appeared before the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday (8 July), where the additional charge of attempted murder was laid.

He’s next scheduled to appear on 23 July.

The man has been suspended from duty.
