A member of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) has been issued a charge for allegedly drink driving last New Year’s Eve.
On Thursday (27 February), an AFP spokesperson said the alleged offence took place on 31 December 2024 before the member was issued a court attendance notice by ACT Policing.
They were issued one count of exceeding the prescribed concentration of alcohol contrary to section 19(1) of the Road Transport (Alcohol and Drugs) Act 1977 (ACT).
The matter was scheduled to be heard in the ACT Magistrates Court later on Thursday.
“The AFP is committed to transparency,” the AFP spokesperson said.
“As the matter is now before the court, no further comment will be made.”
It follows a separate matter earlier this week, when a member of the AFP was accused of breaching a family violence order when he was arrested by ACT Policing on Monday (24 February).
