Following the success of the recent Alzheimers ACT Breakfast at the AIS, next Sunday Canberrans will get a chance to walk to make a difference! The ACT Memory Walk and Jog, is on at 8am on Sunday 17 September at the Lennox Gardens in Yarralumla.
While this important local community group is on their way to reaching a target of $50,000, they want to encourage walkers and joggers everywhere in and around Canberra to sign up and participate.
Please share this information with friends and on social media to fundraise for local families living with dementia.
If you are looking at this page, it is quite likely that your personal life has been impacted or touched by dementia, or that you work in a related industry. Either way, you know first hand that dementia is a difficult journey and that it can affect any family without apparent warning or reason. Your fundraising efforts will help Alzheimers ACT to help people with a diagnosis to live full and meaningful lives shared within a community of support. This is a cause worth giving to.
The top fundraiser so far is Jan Field at $2,200. Jan has been personally impacted by a close diagnosis of dementia, and this 5km for the Memory Walk and Jog will be the farthest she has walked since her knee replacement in March. Jan is a great advocate for Alzheimer’s Austalia ACT and she urges us all to give whatever support we can: to walk, jog, fundraise, donate, cheer from the sidelines, volunteer, sponsor or create a dementia friendly workplace.
Keep up the great fundraising work Jan, and well done to everybody for your efforts to date!
