From the comments below, I can see that some Rioters are not happy with your decision.

Although thisisnotcharity only received 86 comments, it also generated plenty of media attention, including radio, press, TV and online news stories. Even Parton, a previous Mully Cup winner wants to speak with me about this issue.

I’ve dedicated countless hours to the website, emailing replies to hundreds of messages, responding to media, driving around Canberra taking pictures while stepping over smelly mattresses and filthy bogan junk, uploading, cropping, reducing kb’s of images, designing the site, buying the domain, Facebooking, tweeting, Rioting (a bit) and going back for more pics each day.

I have been carefully reading comments and suggestions about finding a solution to the problem, and will provide a summary of your suggestions to the Government in the near future.

Yes, the issue has been raised countless times, but these particular images have opened the eyes of many, including Katy Gallagher and her colleagues, the Opposition and Greens, not to mention the charities themselves.

I’m passionate about bringing a stop to illegal dumping. The amount of media attention that has been generated would not have been possible without the support of websites such as RiotACT, Twitter, and Facebook, and the media stories. Of those three, only RiotACT provided a platform for well thought-out comments and suggestions about illegal dumping. The Government has taken note.

For this reason, I’m happy and proud to accept this award for the month of December 2011.

Now you can all stop laughing at my acceptance speech, which I think deserves another award. 😉
