Police are seeking witnesses following acts of animal cruelty which appear to have involved two chickens being set alight in Kambah early yesterday morning (June 8).

ACT Policing said that at approximately 3 am on Saturday morning, two chickens were taken from a coop at a childcare centre located on Summerland Circuit, Kambah.

“The birds were later discovered at a nearby location with injuries consistent with being set alight,” ACT Policing said in a statement.

“One was subsequently euthanized and the other is receiving veterinary care.”

Police would like to speak with anyone who saw people at or near the childcare centre early on Saturday morning. They would also like anyone who has relevant dash cam footage to get in contact with them.

Information that could assist police can be provided to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Information can be provided anonymously but please quote reference 6404540.
