Another apologist for Stanhope surfaces

louise 14 March 2007 15

This week’s City News reports Stanopes stirling performance in the assembly on no-confidence day.

Is this the same performance reported on this forum?

[Ed – Jorian Gardner seems taken with style over substance, who’d a thunk it? Some people never tire of the Angry Voice]

I just can’t get used to this new RA.

Bring the old one back!

When I try going to the City News all I get is a MOTD about how CityNews is being updated and revilatised full of marketing spin.

Has The-RiotACT kickstarted a Canberra-based arms race for web coverage?

For Stanhope this motion was personal. Lives and much property had been lost, he said, and it was about time the opposition stopped playing with “the grief and misfortune of an entire community”. While those with the luxury of hindsight now claim he could have done better, there’s no hindsight when you are actually doing the “doing”.

This was the man that said “Blame me”, no doubt with 20/20 hindsight as it came some time after the event. Do all past actions become null and void after accepting the grand poobah job?

I was quite astounded by his defence of Stanhope.

You could almost suggest it was a paid advertisement.

Not that I would suggest it was.

There were plenty of comments on that in the original RiotACT item linked to.

In the interest of playing the ball not the man, I note no comments so far as to the actual substance of his article/the speech…

After more thoughts on this perhaps he is taking a leaf out of Jack Waterfords book? Jorian Gardner Canberran of the Year 2008

So, was it Jorian that Stanhope was having dinner with on the 17th January 2003?

Talk about teenage hero worship!

Pleased to see the comments, I thought I was the only one who found the article odd.

Ari Ari 2:16 pm 14 Mar 07

I wonder if Jorian will expect a “reach around” for this article.

Delbosca Delbosca 2:09 pm 14 Mar 07

Tis tis tis , it surely is an attempt to bow at the kings feet, his delivery as per the norm angry at life, angry at himself just all round angry little man

And surely an artist and communicator of Jorian’s ilk should get the order right – the ‘crack!’ would emenate from the ball hitting the bat ‘after’ the delivery – so the expletive should come at the ned, not the start, of each of the ‘sixes’??

Jorian, Jorian, Jorian – still, funding by ways and means, huh? And barking toad and i agree! : )

I believe Jorian was referring to the actual prepared speech that Stanhope had in direct response. Any idiot could sound ok after 7 days prep!

Does sound extremly like Sebastian…only difference is that Jorian doesn’t work directly for the ‘Chief’…..???

sebastian from little britain…

Well that was a fawning little piece by jorian.

Looking for some arts grant or nohope sponsored handout perhaps.
