apple promo

Yes the long awaited Apple store is finally opening in the Canberra Centre this Saturday and the first thousand punters through the door get a t-shirt no purchase required.

The wait is over (for those who were waiting)

What’s Your opinion?

Threeze has tweeted this at me:

@The_RiotACT interestingly, the Mac1 appears to have closed, I saw builders gutting the shop at lunch.

Canberra Centre had to give them a big pay out to close. One of the contracts (I don’t know if it was Mac1’s or Apple’s) said that there couldn’t be another dedicated Apple retailer in the centre…….

Do tell more, a rather boring story just got interesting now…. So who was forced out I wonder, did Mac1 cave under the power of the mighty corporate giant…

Perhaps Mac1 has/had a contract that said we are the exclusive (quasi) Apple Store in the Canberra Centre and if you grant a lease for a bona fide Apple Store then we’re outta here and we’ll be leaving with your six-figure compensation farewell card.

Dunno, that’s just a guess.

So with Mac1 Canberra Centre biting the dust, looks like a bit of panic setting elsewhere.

Domayne is running ads for 20% off Mac packages (don’t fall for thinking it’s 20% of Macs, it’s 20% inflated packages folks) and is using a new slogan: ‘Your home of everything Apple’ in a not at all subtle response to the actual Apple store opening.

I don’t think there’s too much respect between Apple and Mac1. The latter has antagonised Apple on more than one occasion; from offering academic pricing in breach of their reseller agreement to using improper branding and even pics of Steve Jobs.

Not to mention stealing peoples laptop bags.

Before buying, or upgrading, an Apple product, do a quick search of the acronym UDID.

So what?

I’m more worried about the constant virus and trojan attacks I used to put up with as a PC user.

Better hope Samsung doesn’t sell t-shirts.

..or they better not try to sell tshirts too!

Yes, those Samsung t-shirts look very similar to Apple’s ones; with sleeves on both sides and crew neck collars – exactly just like the Apple designed ones.

See you in court, Samsung; Apple’s going to go thermonuclear on you!

Only in the US… in every other country their t-shirts are clearly different, according to the courts.

you must have gotten onto the story this morning about the FBI stored UDID getting hacked, oh the lols…….

Nah, wrote about the issue the Crimes ages ago. Feeling smug today.

I’d link, but you know, they 404’d everything pre-January 2012.

There’s nerd chick in tight blue shirts? Why wasn’t I told?

Will they still be there when the nerd-fans have gone or will it be back to fat blokes with scruffy beards?

I’ll try to be there for the FREE T-SHIRTS!

I’d rather drink a schooner of cold vomit than wear an Apple branded product. I don’t even care whose vomit it is.

I’m no fan of apple but I wouldn’t go that far.
