Belco Plagued With Crap to Dine On?

By Ex Warrior - 20 December 2011 59

We took some visitors from Sydney to dinner last night firstly to Jammo Wests where we we’re denied entry as we had rubber thongs on.

Needless to say the previous day we’d been to many places in Sydney in the same thongs but no, not allowed in the pokie palace at

Jammo. Next was an old favourite at Kaleen. More disappointment and marked never to return. Service and waiting times were horrendous.

Is there any decent places to eat in Belco that isn’t Chinese? Suggestions please

What’s Your opinion?

No, bugger it, no tracksuits ever.

Not even “dress tracksuits” as explicitly permitted by the Gungahlin Lakes Club?

Only if worn along with your best goin’ out uggies.

You went to a club hoping to find a decent place to eat?????

And they dressed up and everything!

I only wear my good thongs and stubbies on special occasions – anniversaries, for example.

I suggest you go to Charnwood McDonald’s, they welcome rubber thongs.

Or you could probably just sit in your white commodore with the southern cross on the back and get something at the drive-thru.

I can’t believe someone tried to get into a restaurant wearing thongs.

But then again, I think clubs and pubs should bring back some dress standards. ie, no runners, no fleuro, no tracksuits, etc after 7.00pm or so.

No, bugger it, no tracksuits ever.

Yeah. I’m buggered if I would want to sit next to a table of thong wearing yobs, if I went somewhere decent to eat. Did you wear your ‘dress’ singlets?

+1. If you want decent food and service, it doesn’t hurt to look the part.

Put some decent shoes in if you want to eat somewhere nice.

Emu bank has several eateries you could try eg Thai, Italian. The Turkish takeaway from Charnwood is delicious and great value. And there are good eating places just on the Gungahlin side of the Barton Hwy

Lots…

Sanur’s (Indonesian)
Rock Salt (Modern Australian)
Mork’s (Thai)
Green Herring (well not strictly Belco but close enough)
Bella Vista (Italian)
Ellacure (Modern Australian/European)

Enough to get started?

Yes there are heaps of nice places in Belconnen to eat, There are a few clubs down in Kippax West Belconnen Leagues Club does a nice lunch or dinner, so does the Magpies Club, unsure if you are not allowed to wear thongs during the day but i know that after 8pm at night dress rules apply.

The Bella vista Italian restaurant is nice too. Have not been to the Haha bar myself but they do dinner as well. And there is a restuarant in Bruce that is popular have not been there either.
