Bike stolen at Braddon Phoenix Apartments 11 Feb, 4am

Phoenixxx 12 February 2011 38

Does anybody recognize these guys??? The scene is on Mort Street opposite Crust Pizza and right next to the Bollywood Dimensions Restaurant.

Half way through the footage people are walking down the footpath. Perhaps they saw the car and can give some further information!?!?

Thanks…

Hmmmm… have you gone to the police with this? Seriously, this is something for the boys in blue to look after, not the general public.

Hi Phoenixxx,

Nice work getting the footage. You should also upload a clear photo of the bike if you have one and visit all the local pawn brokers over the next few weeks and leave them a photo also.

Have a walk down the street and look for other CCTV cameras in the area, there is a good chance that there is footage from another angle which may have captured the vehicle.

Happy hunting.

There may have been a good reason for leaving the bike there, just like perhaps someone leaving their car overnight because of unanticipated events?

Wow, a petty little cable lock. I know the pains of having a bicycle stolen, but in this case you only have yourself to blame.

1) bum-crack-tracky-dack and mullet-boi (your thieves) don’t even know that you need sharp blades to cut through cables… then again they probably stole the bolt cutters. It’s not about the size, bum-crack-tracky-dack and mullet-boi just aren’t strong enough.

2) Cable locks are useless at protecting your bike (or anything else for that matter) from theft. You’ve learnt this the hard way. Time and time again here on Riot-Act comes someone crying wolf. The truth is, if you want to leave your bicycle outside and you value it enough, you need to spend at least $60 on a U-lock and or high-quality chain. Be prepared to spend up to $150 for something that will keep your mind resting easy – like a Kyrptonite New York U-lock. The only thing that gets through them (so long as you lock it properly) is a portable powered saw. You don’t have to carry it every where, but leave it locked to the bike rack/pole where you lock your bike up at night. The simple fact of the matter is, the heavier the better but unfortunately not as much fun to carry around.

3) Now starts the the grieving process. Chances of getting it back are slim. Chances of the coppers doing much to catch bum-crack-tracky-dack and mullet-boi are even slimmer.

4) Get a new bike but make sure you spend a good decent amount of money on locks (i.e. more than one = more of a deterrent). Maybe a good quality U-lock or Kryptonite Chain for home and a decent but light U-lock or thicker Chain lock for portability during the day when you run errands. Also look into insurance or the fact that because you live in the city centre, actually taking the bike into your apartment.

Crack – You could park a bike in that…

You can tell from this that the young man has never been around a real man, who taught this kid to use a bolt cutter, HIS MUM?

To be fair, he REALLY needed the cash to buy trackies that fit…

hes not condoning anything, hes just saying its common sense to not leave things out in the open in a high crime area, particularly within walking distance to drinking establishments in the city.

Oh, and its hardly private property, the foot path has been extended out towards the flats. If the thieves had to jump a 7 foot fence to steal the bike – you could claim it was securely locked up. But it was basically left out in the open.

Umm why exactly did you park it there? with the light above it, it looks like a gift from heaven.

There is a theory that parking in well lit places is better in terms of security – indeed a well lit place with a nice high resolution camera directly above would on first glance be ideal if no other more secure options were available. Of course there is no guarantee dumb and dumber will not come along and spend 3 minutes struggling with bolt cutters against your bike chain!

+10 Johnboy 🙂

Clearly bigger bolt cutters were needed in this amazingly well executed crime.

Phoenixx, understandably you are quite p**ssed about the bike, however, I expect that someone will try and steal my stuff if I leave it in a public place, even if it is secured. I doubt that Lovespy is condoning criminal activity but merely pointing out your lack of forethought.

A lesson learned the hard way, unfortunately, Phoenixx…

That’s like saying naked and drunk 17yo girls should be able to parade around footballers with impunity – and they should – but it’s a naive and unrealistic expectation.

Bottom line is, protect what you treasure.

That said, I hope you find the scrotes who stole your ride.

They’re also wanted for questioning by the bum cleavage police.

Cheeky bastards! If they are found they also need to be charged with crimes against fashion.

Good luck!

Given 1/ they are clearly morons who don’t even know to look around for cameras, 2/ they are clearly wimps 3/ someone should recognise that butt crack for sure 4/ they obviously left fingerprints and 5/ they are certain to do more of this, I think there’d be a fair chance they will be caught soon enough.
Good luck, and ain’t it good that so many toerags are also thick as?

The smart ones are working on their preselection or looting your pension fund.
