Bike stolen at Braddon Phoenix Apartments 11 Feb, 4am

By Phoenixxx 12 February 2011 38

Does anybody recognize these guys??? The scene is on Mort Street opposite Crust Pizza and right next to the Bollywood Dimensions Restaurant.

Half way through the footage people are walking down the footpath. Perhaps they saw the car and can give some further information!?!?

Thanks…

What a stupid response! These thugs have to have thier criminal records stsart somewhere so that it’s on file for when they commit a serious offence and thier less likely to get let off with a slap on the wrist!

I’m assuming ACT is similar to NSW with juvenile law (i apologise if it isnt), but you have to get 3 juvenile cautions before even facing a judge. So basically, the kid gets away with the crime twice without any repercussions. If they’re under 17, the police might not even be allowed to get a fingerprint sample, which is probably the easiest/quickest way to link someone to theft. Plus, these days, i doubt a ($50) bike theft will have any effect on his sentencing down the track.

They’re Minors, doesn’t that prevent the cops from taking they’re prints or some such?

According to google, that only applies to kids 15 years or younger. I’ll assume they’re older – if they’re caught and charged, they’ll get off with a juvenile warning anyway, so basically a waste of time for all.

4/ they obviously left fingerprints

Cops won’t dust for fingerprints for something as minor as a bike theft. They won’t even come out to investigate. See if you can claim it off your contents insurance…you do have contents insurance, right?

Left fingerprints on what? The bike’s gone!

The chain. And given that the police are getting good at cleaning up sometimes dozens of crimes with just one or two people/cretins caught, I would think they would be keen to look into it.

What chain? The one out in the open that anyone could’ve touched at any time? No good.

You can tell from this that the young man has never been around a real man, who taught this kid to use a bolt cutter, HIS MUM?

Pretty sure my mum would have got through that quicker then those to butt nuggets.

The shirtless ones name might be Ray.

Not 100% but I’m fairly sure it is.

I can tell you a couple more things if you provide an email address or other less public means of contact.

Hope you get your bike back.

Well, that is good news. Would be great if you could send some more info on Phoenixxxx11@gmail.com.

Thanks in advance…

Anyone recommending a kryptonite lock obviously hasn’t put the search terms ‘kryptonite lock bic pen’ into Google.

dude, that was like 5 years ago, not only did they replace that model asap, but they allowed people to swap the bad model for a good one.

If you’re an ANU student, you can get a subsidised lock from ANU green ($35 from memory). Yes they are a good solid kryptonite, and yes they are keyed (can’t be picked with a pen)

This was a problem about 7 years ago – locks on the new range are akin to Abloy Disclocks.

Fark I would love to punch both those guys in the head.

BTW, I agree with shiny flu, get yourself a kryptonite lock. You won’t regret is and if possible leave your bike inside at home or if you are at a restaurant ask if you can park it around the back or some such.

What a couple of idiots. I hope they get what’s coming to them.

…which, by the looks of it, is a lifetime of living in poverty and having no prospects and no hope.

This is good, clear footage. It is likely these thieves will be identified soon.

Just who was monitoring the camera at the time of the offense and did THEY report it to police?

What was the deterrent effect of this surveillance camera?
