A 25-year-old bikie gang member will face court today after being charged with extortion and blackmail offences after he allegedly stole a vehicle using threats and intimidation.
ACT Criminal Investigation officers conducted two search warrants at an Isaacs home on 15 February and 21 February, and later arrested the man.
Police allege the man stole a vehicle using threats and intimidation and was charged with offences including making demands with a threat to endanger health, blackmail, taking a motor vehicle without consent and possessing a prohibited weapon.
ACT Policing Criminal Investigations Superintendent Scott Moller said the man’s threatening behaviour will not be tolerated.
“To intimidate a member of the community for property and cash is disgraceful and unacceptable,” Superintendent Moller said.
“We know that individuals associated with criminal motorcycle gangs think they are above the law. This arrest continues to demonstrate that police will be relentless in the pursuit of those individuals.”
The man will appear before the ACT Magistrates Court today where police will oppose bail.
Police are urging anyone who may have any information that could assist police to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
