A couple of years ago, before we heard of Evanescence, or Nightwish, Canberra had a band delivering strong vocals and power metal in an accessible package. They attracted large crowds of excited youth who danced enthusiastically and for a minute or two there it almost looked like a Canberra band was going to hit the big time.
That band was called Gravity Well. In the face of possible greatness they did what so many other bands have done before, implode. Almost predictable given the association of their name with black holes.
Well they’re back, re-named for success as “Brave Empire”, and playing the Green Room this Saturday 16-DEC-06 with an all ages show at 4pm and an adults gig at 8pm.
We’ll be going along to see how the passage of time has treated them. Or, erm, we’ll be wishing we were here after the organisation to get to Phillip fell through.
