Just to be clear, this would appear to be a workplace meeting in paid time for members of the union to discuss whether or not, as a collective, they support the offer. It’s unlikely to be the formal ballot for approval of the Agreement.

This is quite normal, though usually conducted by holding a few meetings over several days to minimise disruptions.

I understand the role collective bargaining and unions have played in Australia’s history, and continue to play assisting people work in conditions and for remuneration they feel they are worth.

That said, do all industries have to shut down for a couple of hours each time they need to hold a meeting? Even if JB’s suggested “high tech” methods are out for some reasons, what was stopping them have two separate meetings?
