This just in and worthy of your attention:

Grab your optical tools and get outdoors!!

Scope at Mt Stromlo is looking for big, beautiful and unique images of the Weston Creek and Cotter Region to be part of Past Present Future – 10 Year Bushfire Anniversary Exhibition.

Emphasis is placed on the present: how our community has recovered and what the landscape holds for us now.

You don’t need to be a professional…be creative…go scope some visual treasure! Entry is open to all ages young and old. The deadline for submissions is Saturday 12th January.

The intention of this project is to build a sense of pride for those affected directly by the 2003 bushfire event, and for Canberra as a whole.

Past Present Future will recognise the heritage values of the site, as well as the significance of the Weston Creek area in relation to the 2003 bushfires – and Canberra’s subsequent recovery and renewal.

The exhibition will run from Friday 18 January – Monday 18 February 2013. Entry to the exhibition is free.

Scope at Mt Stromlo is also looking for others that might to be part of the project. Artists, poets, community groups and individuals who are passionate about the region and would like to display their works are also invited to get involved.
