The 9th annual ‘School Stars Band Competition’ is now calling for entries from high school and college students in the ACT and surrounding NSW region.
This year’s event will be held 30 October 6-10pm at CIT Music Industry Centre, Woden Campus.
Hosted by the CIT Music Industry Centre, the competition offers young Canberra musicians a fantastic opportunity to develop stagecraft skills, receive feedback from music industry judges and win great prizes.
Entry is open to bands and solo artists currently studying Year 7-12 in the ACT and surrounding NSW regions, who play in a contemporary style including rock, metal, pop, blues, hip-hop, electronica, jazz and funk.
Bands and solo artists can register for free online now at is.gd/CITSchoolStars and registrations close Monday 20 October at 9am.
Prizes include studio recording time at the CIT Music Industry Centre valued at $1,000, a CIT Music Industry Centre scholarship and short course gift vouchers; all performers receive a free DVD of their live performance.
The prize categories are ‘Best Band’, ‘Best Solo Artist’ with winners decided by a panel of judges comprising of respected professionals from the local music industry; as well as a ‘Most Liked’ prize decided by the audience.
The funk-rock band ‘Casters’ from Lake Tuggeranong College were last years ‘Most Liked’ winners and they have gone on to regularly perform at venues across Canberra.
