Calvary parking gets the nod for expansion

By johnboy - 6 June 2012 3

Simon Corbell has announced he’s approved the bulldozing of more land around Calvary Hospital to build 110 more parking spaces:

Mr Corbell approved a variation to the Territory Plan to rezone the narrow strip of land and allow Calvary Hospital to build a formal car park on its northern boundary.

“The sale of this land to Calvary Hospital means it can formally build a new car park that will accommodate an additional 110 spaces and alleviate some of the pressure on parking,” Mr Corbell said.

“The government has been aware of the parking problems at the Calvary Hospital and this will make a big difference for hospital staff and visitors who have been frustrated for some time with the lack of parking in the area.

What’s Your opinion?

Just got an email from the organiser, Glen McCrea thanking me for my signature. Seems he is running in ACT politics. Glad to see a polly who doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty working on a real issue… Big ups!

Great stuff! Last thing you want to have to worry about when you are going to hospital is where you are going to bloody part. Also, big kudos to the bloke who organised the petition, I met him out the front of the shops when he was doing it, bloody freezing standing out at Charnie getting signatures. Proud to be one of the chosen 1200! Anyone know who he was?

Excellent work. I signed as well. It is great to see it worked out well.
