The Canberra Raiders have scored a valuable 23-16 win in a wet Auckland this afternoon, against the New Zealand Warriors. League HQ has the write-up.

With 10 first-choice players out injured, the Raiders were expected to struggle. However, they raced out to a 16-0 lead through a try to David Shillington and a double to debutante Drury Low. Joel Thompson scored another try in the second half and the result was beyond doubt.

The team now has a bye before hosting the Melbourne Storm on Saturday 15 May.

Brett Kelly showed a marked improvement for the second game in a row. Good work Brett, keep it up!

P.S. Good luck also to the Raiders’ five representative players playing in this Friday night’s ANZAC test and NSW City vs Country games:

– David Shillington (Australia, prop)
– Bronson Harrison (New Zealand, second row)
– Josh Dugan (NSW Country, fullback)
– Tom Leroyd-Lahrs (NSW Country, bench)
– Joel Thompson (NSW Country, 18th man)

My bet is that Storm will get no points from their Raiders game next week
